Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank
recently joined the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns at the League’s 18th
Annual Convention. Members of the Infrastructure Bank were featured on two
panel workshops, discussing topics ranging from clean energy financing to the
State’s climate resiliency strategy. The convention was attended by approximately
500 attendees from all 39 cities and towns.
The Infrastructure Bank’s Michael
Baer (Managing Director) was featured on the Leading by Example in Clean Energy panel and was joined by
representatives from the RI Office of Energy Resources. During the session, the
group discussed the wide array of clean energy programs and financing opportunities
available for municipalities. The panel also explored how community leaders can
better leverage these opportunities to meet municipal-specific goals.
Shaun O’Rourke (Director of
Stormwater and Resiliency/Chief Resiliency Officer) was featured on the Adapting Municipalities to Climate Change
in RI panel alongside members of the URI Coastal Resources Center, the
Narraganset Bay Research Reserve, and the Town of South Kingstown. This workshop
focused on statewide resiliency planning efforts already underway and showcased
South Kingstown, a municipality already implementing climate resilience
measures.
